DIY Home Security

Do you want to improve the security of your home, but you just do not have the money to buy expensive security products? Do not worry, there are DIY home security things that you can do around your house that will increase the safety of your home.

The first thing you can do is keep your doors locked. The worst thing you can do is leave a door open or unlocked. It does not matter if you are home or not, you need to keep your doors shut and locked at all times. It may cause an inconvenience, but it will make your home safer.

The next thing you need to do is keep all your windows shut and locked. Now, many of you may have a problem with this because you prefer having your windows open during the hot summer months. You can still have your window open, but you need to install a window lock that will only allow the window to open to a certain point. Without this lock, anyone can gain access to your house through the window, regardless if the window is on the second floor.

Finally, do not hide your key in your yard or under a doormat. While this may seem like a hiding spot to you, people are able to find the key. It is not smart to place the key in a place that can be found easily. Place a key safe on your door that requires you to type a password in to get the key. This keeps you from needing to carry your key around, but keeps it safe at the same time.
